Michele Maguire Merrill
EVP, Acquisitions & International Business Development
Michele is responsible for managing strategy for UBM TechWeb acquisitions as well as the planning and execution for the international divisions and partners across all of properties. She ensures that UBM TechWeb' acquisitions of new businesses are as streamlined and seamless as possible by managing internal and external public relations, drafting the customer outreach strategy, acting as an ombudsman to corporate departments and ensuring due diligence with acquired talent. Her International Business Development role, includes building UBM TechWeb's global strategy and creating license, royalty and joint venture agreements with global business partners. Often the two roles are entwined when international business opportunities become acquisitions. Utilizing her 20 years of technology industry experience, Michele is well positioned to ensure that UBM TechWeb continues to develop into a global company which provides value to the portfolio communities that it serves through furnishing a suite of services to game developers, software developers, IT service and support professionals, and customer management professionals.
Michele had a long tenure with CMP (now UBM) as a magazine publisher earlier in her career. At the mid-point in her career, Michele left CMP and she worked for a broad range of companies including Microsoft, McCann-Erickson, a VC funded internet start-up, and web development firm Clear Ink. Then in 2003, she returned to CMP as Director of the CMP Game Group. She was an integral part of helping the company achieve its goal of growing on an international level when she moved to a divisional position overseeing all international business development first for the Game Group, and then for the International Customer Management Institute (ICMI) and the Electronics Group. After working diligently for three years Michele launched China GDC and assisted in the acquisition and integration of ICMI China. Michele has accomplished many feats while working for Think Services, including growing the revenue for the Game Group and acquiring the Austin Game Developers Conference. More recently Michele was celebrated for her accomplishments when she was named a Woman to Watch in B2B Media by min's in May of 2008.
Michele obtained a BS from Pennsylvania State University, and she has creative training with the MFA that she obtained from Mills College. She is happily married to her husband Eric and has two fabulous children Grant, 16 and Ian, 14. In her spare time, Michele loves to travel to strange lands and on occasion water-ski.
